How it all started…
In 2018, Matt Glaser and Daniel Baeza completed the Run Across Haiti, a 200 mile run from the northern tip of the country to its southern end to show that Haiti is not a place to be feared or to be pitied and to raise funds to support our mission here at WORK in accompanying families in Haiti out of poverty through good, dignified jobs.
Fun Fact: During the Run Across Haiti, they called themselves the desert rats. Why the desert rats? They get stronger in the heat. They can survive anything. They have really cool matching hats… or so they say.
Matt and Daniel have become dear friends, supporters and partners of the organization always going the extra mile for others. As a way to continue to give back, they decided to donate a percentage of sales from their Cocktail of the Week at Wolf & Crane bar to support families in Haiti out of poverty for good.
The Wolf & Crane Staff, meaning YOU, have crafted and poured many drinks that have made an impact on the lives of others. Since 2016, $11,911 has been raised through the Cocktail of the Week. Funds raised has provided uninterrupted wrap-around services to families and supported their ability to pull themselves out of poverty through dignified work.
At WORK, financial independence means at least $250USD/month per head of household. It’s a significant improvement from less than $1 a day, which is the starting point for the majority of our family members. Commitment over a period of time is required to reach this goal and we can’t thank Matt, Daniel, Michael, Jason, and the W&C community for their commitment over the years.
Your cocktails have made a difference and supported the following impact on our families:
800+ family members accompanied with direct services including access to health care, education scholarships, and workforce development training and investments
170+ students continued their education through scholarship support
73 businesses in our community created and invested in through our Workforce Development Program
